Course FAQ

  • How does this class help me in everyday life situations?

This class will teach you to recognize situations and individuals that have the potential to escalate, whether you encounter them in your personal or professional life. You will learn effective ways to manage them through effective communication skills, fostering empathy and understanding, while reducing stress and promoting a sense of well-being.

  • Is there any situation where de-escalation doesn't work?

Yes, there is always a chance that your efforts to de-escalate will not be successful. These situations include individuals who are too far in crisis and are unable or unwilling to engage. Another reason is that there may be an underlying issue that is not presented and cannot be addressed as needed. The last reason is time; due to emergent needs of a fast-moving situation, you may not have the time to fully de-escalate the situation.

  • Does de-escalation involve physical contact between the involved parties?

While de-escalation techniques try to discourage physical contact, at some point, when these techniques are not effective and the situation becomes violent and people may be harmed, physical contact may be necessary. This should only be done by those who know their limits and are trained to use this type of force or containment and control without harm to all involved parties.

  • Do I need to be law enforcement to use de-escalation techniques?

No, you don't need to be a law enforcement officer to use our de-escalation techniques. Anyone who wants to learn how to de-escalate a situation or an individual will benefit from this class. The class offers communication techniques that can be applied in various environments, including both home and work settings.
